BLACK MOLD REMOVAL METHODS
As you may have noticed, black mold won’t disappear on its own. The only way to guarantee its elimination is to have a specially trained, certified technician perform extensive mold remediation. In the meantime, depending on the extent of black mold growth in your home, we recommend removing yourself from the toxic environment until it is completely gone.
First, the technicians will identify the source of moisture that’s feeding your black mold, end it, and dry and dehumidify the surrounding area. Then they will isolate the area – shutting doors, covering vents, and minimizing the opportunity for mold in the air to infiltrate other areas of your home. Exhaust fans in front of openings to the outdoors will push any escaped mold spores outdoors.
Another precaution against spreading mold through the air is to further dampen the mold on any surfaces. This action weighs down any spores that might otherwise become airborne as they scrub the surface with a dry brush, sanding device, or soapy rag. They’ll be sure to clean surrounding surfaces as well, for not all black mold spores are visible to the naked eye, finishing up by wiping down the area with a professional mold removal chemical solution.
Sometimes, especially if the surface is particularly absorbent or porous (such as ceiling tiles or carpet – and sometimes even sections of a wall), a moldy surface may have to be removed entirely.
After the black mold has been comprehensively removed, the specialists will place all equipment and debris in a heavy-duty trash bag and disposed of through the nearest outdoor opening (often a window) to minimize the spread of mold spores indoors.
The black mold removal and remediation process is a comprehensive journey requiring patience, energy, and, yes, funds. Luckily, we here at Mold Inspection Illinois can direct you to the most knowledgeable, personable, and affordable black mold remediation resources.
